HOW IT WORKS

Saliva drug testing offers a quick and affordable solution for companies conducting pre-screening or random drug testing. As mandated by the Drug-free Workplace Act of 1988, numerous industries from transportation to aviation are required to to undergo drug tests for employees who are responsible for safety-sensitive jobs. With high rates of accuracy, our 5-panel saliva test can help your company mitigate losses from liabilities and preserve the safety of your work environment.

Saliva tests are considered the least invasive of all drug tests. They’re usually performed as mouth swab tests, where saliva is collected from inside of the individual’s mouth. Saliva is easy to collect and can be conducted on location. The saliva is placed on a tube where it registers a specific color based on the metabolite detected on the sample.  Results register in a little under a half hour.

WHAT CAN A SALIVA DRUG TEST DETECT?

Saliva tests are administered as a 5-panel drug test and can detect the presence of alcohol, amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamines. Saliva tests are far more limited than a hair follicle test, accounting for drug use over the past few days. They can also detect drug use that occurred within the last hour.

Saliva drug testing is considered to be just as accurate as urinalysis and hair follicle testing. Saliva testing can detect drug use almost immediately after consumption. With supervised administration, saliva tests are virtually impossible to tamper with.

ORAL FLUID DRUG TEST DETECTION TIMES

Saliva drug tests work most effectively when testing for recent drug use. For most substances on the 5-panel test, oral swabs can only detect drug use over a 72 hour time span, while marijuana is limited to a 12-24 hour time span.

SALIVA VS URINE DRUG TESTING

Many companies use saliva testing to detect substance abuse that occurs directly on the job. With supervised administration, saliva tests are nearly impossible to cheat and can detect recent use only after an hour of consumption. Urinalysis can detect drug use up to a week after consumption, while saliva can only account for drug use 72 hours after consumption. Both drug tests are accurate and necessary for drug-free workplace laws.
